Which card grading company is best for Canadian collectors in 2026?
PSA generally commands the highest resale premium, especially for modern cards. A PSA 10 is widely considered the gold standard and typically sells for more than equivalent BGS 9.5 or SGC 10 grades.
In most markets, BGS 9.5 (with four sub-grades of 9.5 or higher) trades at roughly the same level as PSA 10. However, a BGS 10 (Pristine) is rarer and often sells for more than PSA 10.
SGC offers the lowest base pricing at $20–$50 CAD per card. PSA and BGS both start around $25–$30 CAD for standard service but climb quickly for express options.
SGC consistently offers the fastest turnaround at 15–30 business days. PSA has improved to 20–45 days. BGS remains the slowest at 30–60+ days.
All three grade vintage well, but PSA has the largest pop report and strongest resale for vintage. SGC is increasingly popular with vintage collectors due to lower cost and fast turnaround.
There is no Canadian grading office for PSA, BGS, or SGC. All three require shipping to the United States. Card Source Canada can handle bulk submissions for Canadian collectors to simplify the process.
PSA 10 means the card is in Gem Mint condition with no visible flaws under 10x magnification. BGS 10 (Pristine) is stricter — all four sub-grades must be 10.0, making it significantly rarer than PSA 10.
SGC resale has grown significantly since 2020. While still behind PSA for modern cards, SGC 10s of popular cards sell reliably on eBay and through dealers. The lower grading cost makes it attractive for volume submitters.
